One to One Midwives

As part of National Breastfeeding Awareness week, a few friends were meeting in the local park for a picnic.  There was mention of cake and swings so my toddler James and I were happy!  While at the park, I met up with an amazing lady Julie Lindley who was a massive help to us when James was newborn and we were struggling with breastfeeding.  I first met her when I was pregnant with James, she was running a breastfeeding class at Leighton Hospital.  Then once James had arrived, she visited us at home several times and was also on the end of the phone with any queries during those first few weeks.  She has a warm, friendly personality and really helped to reassure us in the early days when everything was new and very scary.  You remember people like that!

She now works for One to One Midwives as a Mother and Midwife Assistant (MAMA) and is carrying on helping Mums to breastfeed in the comfort of their own homes.  She was at the park armed with leaflets to promote this service which is fairly new to the South Cheshire area.  Her daughter Kirsty and 10 month old granddaughter Abigail joined us and I couldn't resist taking a few shots of proud grandma Julie with her beautiful granddaughter who is breastfed of course!

Julie was telling me all about One to One Midwives and how it all works and I wished they'd been around when I was pregnant with James.  From the first day you contact them when you find out you are pregnant, to the day they discharge you up to six weeks after the birth of your baby, you can have your own personal One to One midwife with you every step of the way.  You can book midwife appointments at home and at a time to suit you, which is great if you work office hours.  You can go to local childrens centres and clinics to have scans rather than the hospital and they can be there for your home, midwife led unit or hospital birth, whichever you choose.  You can be supported by a midwife you know and trust and it's totally FREE!

It just sounded so amazing that I wanted to try and raise awareness for any Mums to Be who visit my website.  I certainly would have opted for that high level of service had I known about it and had it been on offer locally to me when I was pregnant.  If you would like more information, you can call 0330 330 9121 or visit their website
