Laura & Jonathan's Sandhole Oak Barn Wedding
I had the pleasure of photographing Laura & Jonathan's wedding at the end of May this year at St Lukes Church in Holmes Chapel and Sandhole Oak Barn, near Congleton, Cheshire. I met Laura a couple of years ago through her work with the One in Eleven Appeal which was to raise money for a new neonatal intensive care unit at Leighton Hospital. We then met up several times after that at networking events and became friends. Laura and Jonathan chose Brereton Country Park for their pre wedding shoot. We got some great shots there and it gave me a chance to get to know Jonathan a bit better.
It was lucky that they had chosen the Bank Holiday Monday to get married as it had poured with rain all day on the Saturday. The weather was perfect, sunny but not too hot. After calling at the church early in the morning to take some shots there, I arrived at Laura & Jonathan's house where Laura and her Mum and bridesmaids were getting ready. It was all very calm and quiet, Laura had organised everything in advance, there was plenty of time and no panic or rushing about - very unusual but lovely!
Laura was determined not to be late for the wedding as she is never late for anything! I left them at the house to get to the venue in advance so that I could record Jonathan and the boys and their guests arriving. There wasn't much time for this as they were just walking over from having a couple of pints at the local pub! I was worried that Laura would be there before them! There was no need to worry though, the timing worked out perfectly and the service was beautiful and also had some great moments that made everyone laugh. The vicar was lovely and put everyone at ease very quickly.
We then arrived at the reception venue, Sandhole Oak Barn, near Congleton. It's a stunning purpose built wedding venue set in the Cheshire countryside, and Laura & Jonathan had chosen an Alice in Wonderland theme. It worked really well. The tables looked amazing and the cake was fantastic.
They were very happy to be surrounded by all their friends and family, some of which had travelled from the other side of the world to be with them on their special day.
They had booked a band for their evening reception called Under the Covers who were fantastic. I photographed their first dance and then left them to party the night away.
